Computer Viruses: A Tip

“To this day, we hear of people puzzled to find that they’re infected by an email worm, despite opening only attachments received from people they know. Moral: trusting the person doesn’t mean you have to trust the object. In general, people receive viruses and similar threats from other victims, not directly from the virus creator: that’s one of the major weaknesses exploited by self-replicating malware. You have to trust not only the intentions of everyone you deal with, but also their ability to protect themselves from infection.

An excerpt from the book “Viruses Revealed”. I was reading it the other day at the library and found it quite interesting. Never got to know about viruses (apart from human viruses) this much and that too in an interesting way. So thought of sharing something from it.

:)

Anyways, keep this “tip” in mind. ALWAYS. Esp., the last line.
