“Face it”… (Wisdom Lines)

weheartit.com

Knowing very well escapism can only be transitory, and also knowing very well you cannot eternally escape anything in life, why do you still try to escape? Why don’t you want to know, what you must know? When the cat closes its eyes the world does not become blind. Eventually, what must be faced must be faced. Then, why at all eventually? Why at all postpone? The forest fire you will face tomorrow is the little spark that you tried to escape yesterday.

It is a fact that most of us lack the courage to face the facts of life. That we do lack the courage to face the facts of life is the first brutal fact that we must face.

I think my friend is drifting away from me. Face the fact. Something can be done about it. I think my marriage is falling apart. I think the competition is eating into our market share. I think some of our employees are nurturing the aspirations of joining the competitor. I think as an organisation we are deviating from the original vision with which it was formed. I think my kind of work wins me not only friends, but also enemies. I just don’t know, how and where to go from here in life. I know in the heart of my heart I was wrong, though I have always told him that it was his mistake. The list is endless…

Face the fact. Something can be done about it. If you avoid the fact, it gets nastier, and it revisits you. At least now face the fact. Something can still be done about it. What you avoid does not go away from you. It gets uglier, and it revisits you. Every fact that you escape from will one day make you think, “I should have…I could have…I must have…”

We can always seek the right medical intervention, follow proper fitness regime and practice appropriate diet. You can ease out the differences with your friend through open communication, through initiative you can become your son’s best friend, open up new markets, make your employees your co-owners, and take the courage to say the small big word ‘Sorry’.

Everything that was ever solved was solved because somebody was willing to face it. It all starts with the courage to face the facts. In facing the facts that you had always tried to avoid, for the first time you are looking at life square in the eye. Face the brutal facts of life courageously; knowing very well that something can be done about it. Escapism is not for people like you and me. What must be faced, must be faced, sooner than later.

P.S. I need to work on it the most, honestly.

Food for Thought

http://vjcyber.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/glassinhand1a1.jpg?w=168&h=192A professor began his class by holding up a glass with some water in it.

He held it up for all to see; asked the students,’ How much do you think this glass weighs? ‘

’50gms!’ …. ’100gms!’ ……’125gms’ ……the students answered.

‘I really don’t know unless I weigh it,’ said the professor, ‘but, my question is: What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes?’

‘Nothing’ the students said.

‘Ok what would happen if I held it up like this for an hour? ‘The professor asked.

‘Your arm would begin to ache’ said one of the students.

‘You’re right, now what would happen if I held it for a day?’

‘Your arm could go numb; you might have severe muscle stress; paralysis;

Have to go to hospital for sure! ‘Ventured another student; all the students laughed.

‘Very good.  But during all this, did the weight of the glass change? ‘ asked

The professor. ‘No’ the students said.

Then what caused the arm ache & the muscle stress?’

The students were puzzled.

‘Put the glass down!’ said one of the students.

‘Exactly!’ said the professor.’ Life’s problems are something like this.

Hold it for a few minutes in your head; they seem OK.

Think of them for a long time & they begin to ache. Hold it even longer & they begin to paralyze you. You will not be able to do anything.

It’s important to think of the challenges (problems) in your life, but

EVEN MORE IMPORTANT to ‘put them down’ at the end of every day before you go to sleep.

That way, you are not stressed, you wake up every day fresh & strong & can handle any issue, any challenge that comes your way!’

Remember to PUT THE GLASS DOWN TODAY!

Just a Thought

¦ Stop judging people. Stop judging anyone. As soon as you bring somebody into your head and start forming an essay about him/her – catch yourself. Essay is all about judging the other person. It disturbs. It disturbs you alone. So be wise and don’t do that. ¦

Instead devote sometime to improve yourself rather than finding out faults in others. That would be the best use of your time.

Let It Go

“How long will you bang against a wall?
You may begin to bleed, but the wall will never open up for you.

How long will you curse your luck
and wait under a mango tree
expecting oranges?
You may drop dead
but not a single orange
will drop from a mango tree.

What is, is.
What is not, is not.

Genius is in knowing
what to hold on and when to let go.”

“Frozen Thoughts”

If we…

Even if we cannot be the solution,
let us at least be the solace.
Even if we cannot help, let us not harm.
Even if we cannot solve the problem,
let us not cause the problem.
Even if we cannot be the accelerant,
let us not be a retardant.

If you can be the pain balm
of the battered souls,
rather being the cause of headache,
the world will come in search of you.

With compassion in words and actions,
help every man to find his solutions
and this world will belong to you.

“Existential Aloneness”

All relationships are only on the surface.
Deep inside you are always alone.

A thousand people may surround you;
yet, a part of you is always alone.
Even when you embrace your beloved,
a part of you is always alone.

You came into this world alone
and you will leave this world alone.

Liberation comes from knowing
‘Existential Aloneness’
is your true nature.

Relate from this space
and you will be dependable;
else you will be dependent.

Quality is that Invisible Detail… (FT)

“Quality – the presence of which is seldom noticed, but the absence of which can never be missed. Quality is about having detailed excellence in areas that others might not even notice… A flower is a flower, with or without fragrance; yet the presence of flower makes all the difference. Quality is that invisible detail… the presence of which makes all the difference.”

Frozen Thoughts

The “Frozen Thoughts” section will contain all the thoughts which I have taken from the book “Unposted Letter” by T.T. Rangarajan. He is also the editor of the magazine “Frozen Thoughts”. AWESOME book and magazine. And now, of course, they are my thoughts as well. So as per the suggestion of the author, it’s my pleasure to share these thoughts, especially for those who do not have access to the book/magazine. :)

“Success is in the big things.
Happiness is in the small things.
Meditation is in nothing.
God is in everything.
That’s life.”
