Coke Studio embodies a musical fusion of exciting elements and diverse influences, ranging from traditional eastern, modern western and regionally inspired music. Bringing alive the magic of live recordings and performances, Coke Studio prides itself on providing a musical platform, which bridges barriers, celebrates diversity and encourages unity.
Here are few of my favorite songs (not in any particular order):
1. Aik Alif (One God) - Noori [The greatest message of all..]
2. Hor Vi Neevan Ho [Bow your head down even further (in humility)] - Noori
3. Nahi Ray Nahi - Ali Zafar [Great lyrics and flute work]
4. Kinara – Atif Aslam [Coolest ever!]
5. Alif Allah, Jugni - Arif Lohar & Meesha
6. Almost the entire fourth season of Coke Studio! [Top favorites: Daanah Pe Daanah, Bilal Khan, Jal, Attaulah Khan Esakhelvi]
7. Mori Araj Suno (pay heed to my appeal)
It’s a wonderful composition. Listen along with the lyrics:
Mori araj suno, dastagir pir [O my Lord, pay heed to my appeal]
Mairee kahun kaa say mein apnay jiya ki pir [I am a faithful follower of my Creator]
Mori araj suno, dastagir pir [O my Lord, pay heed to my appeal]
Rabba sachiya, toon tay akhia see [My true Lord, you had said]
Ja oye bandiya jug da shah ain tu [Go man, you are master of the world]
Saadian nemataan terian daulataan nenh [My bounties on earth are your treasure]
Saada naib the alijah ain tu [You are the viceroy of your Creator]
Ais laaray teh torr kadh puchia eh [After baiting me with these promises]
Kee ais nimanay teh beetiyaan nenh [Countless years have passed by]
Kadde saar we layee o rab saiyaan [My Lord, did you ever enquire what transpired with your man]
Terey shah naal jugh kee kitiyan nenh [What your man has suffered in this world?]
Kithay dhons police sarkar dee eh [Somewhere, those in power and with the means intimidate, harass and terrorize]
Kithay dhandhli maal patwaar di eh [Elsewhere, draft and bribery are rampant]
Ainj hadaan wich kalpay jaan meri [My soul is shaken down to my bone]
Jeevain phahee ich koonj kurlaundi eh [Just like a bird flutters when caught in a trap]
Changa shah banayaee rab saiyaan [You made a fine king indeed, my sweet lord]
Paulay khaandayaan waar na aundi eh [All I have gotten are endless beatings]
Mainu shahi naeen chaidi rab meray [I don’t want kingship, my Lord]
Mein tay izzat da tukkar mangna haan [All I need is a morsel of respect]
Meinu taang naeen mehlaan maraiaan di [I have no desire to live in palaces]
Mein tay jeevain di nukkar mangnaa haan [I just want a small nook to live my life]
Meri mannain tay tairian main mannan [If you agree with me, I will agree with you]
Teri sohn jay ik wi gal moran [I won’t decline anything no matter how unreasonable]
Jey ay sauda nai pujda te rabba [If you don’t look out for me God!]
Fayr main jawan teh rab koi hor loraan [Then I should go and seek for myself another god]
Mori araj suno, dastagir pir [O my lord, pay heed to my appeal]
Arieb Azhar:
Iss surat se [With this grimace]
Arz sunatay [Pleading]
Dard batatay [Sharing the pain]
Nayya khaitay [Rowing the boat]
Minnat kartay [Asking for his blessings]
Rasta taktay [Waiting expectantly]
Kitni sadiyaan beet gai hain [Countless centuries have passed by]
Ab jakar yeh bhaid khulla hai [Only now has it been revealed]
Jis koh tum ne arz guzari [The one who you had appealed to]
Jo tha haath pakarnay waala [The one who held your hand and guided you]
Jis jaag laagi nao tumhaari [Where your boat had docked]
Jis say dukh ka daaroo manga [From whom you had asked for a panacea for your pain]
Toray mandir may joh nahin aaya [The one who did not visit your temple]
Woh tau tum heen thay [It was you only]

Thank you so much for sharing your views, I really appreciate it. Lovely.
God bless you!
Well, Coke studio is my fav too, but my list will look quite different. Anyways, listen this one (by Uth records) and perhaps read a blog post on it at –>
http://www.snex.in/2011/03/reidi-gul-yasir-and-jawad-and-wali.html
And yeah, you know why I am commenting here? Well, the mentioned blog is way better (http://www.snex.in/ with 92k hits, and very few comments) and still almost very very few comments! haha, I was just laughing after reading the comments dropped in your ‘about’ section. This is called girl power
And guess what, I surfed your blog cause of this ‘power’ you all possess. Damn me and all guys
Thank you for the link. My blog is not just about MUSIC!
Anyways. Congrats for the “snex.in” blog, it definitely is musical and has a pool of information!
I heard you scream the word MUSIC! Earlier I didn’t mean to compare your blog with that musical one. Not at all. I was pointing out the paradoxical behavior of readers! But surely I wish to read much much about music and I wish you will write something better and better, about many forms of music. Now I believe you ain’t into much of Carnatic music. But still, have your ear for this one
And sorry, forgot earlier. Your photographs are marvelous. Keep posting.
I didn’t scream, just emphasized the word.
Thank you for sharing the song, and you are right in saying that I’m not much into Carnatic music.
Thank you again, for liking my pictures and commenting here.
Hi Nandini,
thank you for visiting my blog – glad you enjoyed the sunflowers!
You have a lot of music posted here. I really enjoyed the sounds of Mori Araj Suno and thought that I would share a song with you as well:

Hi Chris
Thank you for listening to my music collection. I’m so glad you liked it too!
And right now, I’m listening to the track you gave me the link to, and I’m finding it great. I’ll be listening to it again.
You have a great weekend too! Here, it is already evening, but I had a beautiful day today as it was all sunshine after two days of continuous rain and a little coldness in the air. It felt good be warm again.
Hi! And now they are showing “MTV Unplugged”….equally musical and soothing!
Stay Raw
Yes, I’m following that. It really is something else. Thank you
ah thanks for your music suggestion, I’ll reblog some of your vids soon. Thanks
It was my pleasure. Music is a wonderful thing to share. Thanks for your reply.
Yeah music is wonderful! It doesn’t matter, if I don’t understand the language..
Yes very right.
But anyways, translations are available on their official website
Thank you for this. The music is so beautiful and it is such a great opportunity to not only feel it but to also understand it.
Perfect love!
Glad you loved it, Rasta!

That’s music how I like it very much! Thanks for that link.
Glad you liked it Tom. Thanks
What I miss a little bit in your examples is the more meditative way in modern music from India, which is perhaps boring for modern Indians. I like cross-culture and traditional-modern-mix, but these musicians often seem to be under pressure to reach extasy in 3,5 or 10min – like Ravi Shankar. And the sensitive sound of traditional Indian instruments often drowns in a flood of loudness and electronic sound. Anoushka Shankar tried something else in “Breathing under water”, so I can have my own extasy-timing.
Actually, all the examples here do not fall under “Indian” music category, although they are very similar to Indian music. But I understand what you are saying. There are many songs which I found meditative, most of them I never shared here. But again, that’s purely individual’s perception or choice, isn’t it? Now you might be amazed, but I have not listened to “Breathing under water”. I will now, surely.
Thanks for sharing, glad to know you look forward to Indian music. Let me know if I can provide any help in some songs. I might know some.
I don’t know if you’re familiar with Siddharta: Spirit of Buddha Bar CD Album. I think that’s something Indian (sorry for the choice of word). I listen to it from time to time since I heard one of the songs played in this restaurant I once visited. Since then, I researched on that particular song and I found out that the title is, Wish You Were Here — the first track of the album. I bought the CD 4 years ago and I must say Indian Music, through this album, is soothing to the ears.
I have not listened to this track, but thanks for mentioning this one to me. I will do listen to it now. I hope it is there on YouTube or elsewhere on internet. (Sharing and then exploring new things is good).
And I really don’t want to put regional boundaries on something as universal as music. Although there are cultural impressions, but the instruments are universal. That is the reason I did not mention where are these Coke Studio sessions from (all from Pakistan). I haven’t updated this page with the Coke Studio India sessions.
Thanks for sharing.
